Responsibilities

  • Design and develop custom Business Objects and integration flows in SAP S/4HANA using the RAP model and ABAP OOP for complex business requirements, especially in master data governance.
  • Integrate SAP systems through the SAP Integration Suite and establish connections between SAP BTP and SAP ERP.
  • Work in a clean-core mindset — extensions built with released APIs and ABAP Cloud rather than modifications to standard objects.

The move

After nearly three years at FPT IS delivering S/4HANA projects on-premise, I moved to Laidon Group in May 2026 to work closer to the modern SAP stack: ABAP Cloud, the RAP model and SAP BTP.

What the role covers

Master data governance. Master data is where most integration problems actually start. My work here is about modelling governance processes — creation, review, approval and distribution of master data — as RAP business objects, so the process is auditable and the data that leaves the system is trustworthy.

RAP business objects. Building managed and unmanaged RAP business objects: CDS data models, behaviour definitions, behaviour implementations, projection views and the service bindings that expose them to Fiori and to other systems.

Integration between BTP and ERP. Establishing the connections — destinations, communication arrangements, principal propagation — that let side-by-side extensions on BTP talk to the ERP core safely, and building the iFlows in SAP Integration Suite that move the data.

Why clean core matters here

Every enhancement I wrote in my first three years was, in some form, a modification to how standard SAP behaves. It works, but each one is a small tax on every future upgrade. ABAP Cloud changes the default: you only consume released APIs and extension points, and anything else has to be justified. It is a stricter way to work, and it is the reason the C_ABAPD certification was worth the time.

More to come. This role is ongoing — I will expand this page with specific project stories as they wrap up.
